West Linn Public Library to feature exhibit by Cindy Geffel

Press release date: Wed Mar 23rd, 2011

WEST LINN - The West Linn Public Library will host an exhibit featuring the work of West Linn artist Cindy Geffel during the month of April. The exhibit will run April 2-29 in the Library’s Community Room which is open to the public when not in use, and always open on Sundays, noon – 5:00 p.m.

Geffel painted solely in watercolors for many years before deciding to pursue a traditional degree in art, which broadened her artistic “tool belt.” Today her approach is to use mixed media such as acrylic, oil, and encaustic to increase texture and meaning.

The artwork in this exhibit is inspired by Geffel’s afternoons spent at community gardens sketching in oil stick to create colorful, visual abstracted florals, just for the love of color and beauty. She thinks of it as creating art in the language of color, shape, texture, value, line, space, balance, and form. She chooses the medium which is calling to her the most and will be best used to communicate the idea she is trying to get across.
