Milwaukie Artist’s Photography is on Display in Community Room in September

WEST LINN – The West Linn Public Library will feature the photography of Vernon DiPietro during the month of September. The exhibit will run October 3-30 in the library’s Community Room which is open to the public when not in use, and always open on Sundays from noon – 5:00 p.m. An artist’s reception will be held on Sunday, October 5 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

DiPietro became interested in photography in 8th grade while doing odd jobs for a local professional photographer. A self-taught photographer, his life experiences and interactions with many people has helped him develop his art.

DiPietro’s travels have taken him to Attu Island at the end of the Aleutian Chain; the Bering Sea; Alaska; and Mexico. His recent expedition took him to Guadalupe Island, Mexico where he photographed great white sharks. The wildlife in the Pacific Northwest provides much of his subject matter, but he also has an affinity for ships, trains, and all things heavy. As this exhibit will show, he is fascinated by the interaction of nature and the industrial. His “Reclamation” series demonstrates the ability and tenacity of nature to reestablish what was once hers.
