Test Proctoring Guidelines for Students and Institutions
West Linn Public Library provides free test proctoring to library patrons and members of the community, under limited circumstances. We can proctor online tests or tests sent to us by mail. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot do drop-in proctoring. Students must have an appointment. Students must have a library card in good standing in order to use this service.
It is the student's responsibility to determine what the proctoring requirements of the institution are and to ensure that the institution understands and accepts our guidelines. Please direct them to this web page so that they may read and approve these guidelines.
Online Tests
The student must call to schedule a time to take the tests and arrange with the educational institution to forward to the library any required passwords, website addresses, etc. The online tests will be taken in the public internet area of the library where there may be noise and disturbance from other nearby library users.
Mailed tests
If there is an initial agreement to be filled out and returned, it will be signed by the librarian on duty at the time the agreement is presented. The test will be proctored by a reference librarian, although due to schedules, the test may be proctored by a librarian other than the one who originally signed the agreement. Students must instruct the school sending the materials to include the student's phone number with the mailed test so that we may contact the student when the testing materials are received.
Tests are proctored in a large public area where the librarian will be answering the phone, assisting other patrons, and occasionally leaving the immediate area for short periods of time. We cannot offer proctoring for tests that require that the librarian remain in a room with the student the entire time.
Any postage and/or envelopes required to return testing materials must be provided by the institution in a prepaid envelope, or by the student at the time of testing.
Institutions
Please contact the library to inform us of your understanding and approval of these guidelines.
