One Hundred Years of Flowers: A Standard Flower Show

The West Linn Garden Club invites the community to participate in a summer flower show to be held Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18 at the West Linn Library. Entries will be accepted Friday evening from 4 to 6pm, or Saturday from noon to 1pm. Judging will commence at 1 pm on Saturday. Ribbons will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners as well as Best of Show in both floral design and horticulture. Anyone is eligible to enter arrangements in one or all of the following categories to carry the theme of One Hundred Years of Flowers:  Pioneer Garden (mass design) Roaring Twenties (creative and flashy design Modern Garden (line design) Fairy Garden (small flowers up to 8” in height) Entering horticulture (a single significant stem with leaves attached) of designated plants is the other part of the flower show:  flowering shrubs, annuals, perennials, bulbs, leaves, Oregon native plants and culinary herbs. Participants may collect containers and entries on Sunday, August 18th, from 3 to 5pm. Full details and rules can be found on the West Linn Garden Club's facebook page. A plant sale at Maddax Woods (5785 River Street) will coincide with the flower show. Hostas, hellebores, various perennials, sedums and other plants from members’ gardens will be offered for sale.
