WEST LINN – The West Linn Public Library will feature an art exhibit by Jeanne Provensen during the month of July. The exhibit will run June 29 – July 30 in the Library Community Room which is open to the public when not in use, and always open on Sunday from noon – 5:00 p.m. An artist’s reception will be held at the library on Sunday, July 12, 2-4 p.m.
Provensen was born and raised in L.A. where she earned a BFA in Illustration from the Art Center College of Design. She began her commercial career as an illustrator, working with various organizations that allowed her to explore and expand her design and painting skills. She has lived in Demark, Hawaii, and Santa Cruz, but has called West Linn home for the last five years. She finds inspiration in the sweeping river views, elegant bridges, and vibrant city vistas of Portland.
For as long as she can remember, she has had a need to create. She was given her first easel on her fifth birthday. When she wasn’t painting of drawing, she was sculpting creatures out of adobe mud, or building a dog house. Watercolor eventually became her favorite, and along with acrylics has been her primary medium for the past 20 years. She is now discovering the world of oil painting, and the pieces that are part of this exhibit are oils.
