Lithography Artwork Displayed Through March
WEST LINN – The West Linn Public Library will exhibit the art of Beate Scheller March 1-26 in the Library Community Room.
An artist’s reception will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2:00-4:00 p.m. The Community Room is open to the public when not in use, and on Sundays from noon – 5:00 p.m.
Scheller and her family moved to West Linn from Germany in 2000. She had dreamed of studying art since she was 18, and in 2004, Scheller graduated from Portland State University with a B.A. in Art with an emphasis in printmaking and painting. The majority of her current artistic efforts are focused on lithography, but she also works with etchings and drypoint plates. Sheller eventually hopes to paint more and to combine printmaking and painting.
Experiences from many different countries have shaped her artwork. Her work is also influenced by nature and architecture. Scheller enjoys capturing landscapes both touched and untouched by humans so that she can remind people of the influences of civilization. Through her art, she hopes to make people think about how landscapes around us are developing and changing. Her lithography pieces are a way of memorizing the world and how she experiences it.
