Planning - The Sunset Neighborhood Association approves a draft neighborhood plan and sends it forward to an October 1, 2008 Planning Commission meeting with a recommendation for adoption as a part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. This is the culmination of an 8-month long planning process with the Sunset Neighborhood Plan Steering Com
mittee working closely with staff, planning consultants Cogan Owen Cogan, and the many citizens who completed a survey questionnaire, participated in early product review meetings, and provided review and oversight in the production of the final document. This Plan provides a more focused vision for this area of the community and action items to be completed over time that will improve the quality of life for residents in light of the neighborhood vision.

Public Works - Sidewalk improvements have begun at the intersection of Hidden Springs Road and Santa Anita Drive. The work includes upgrading an existing corner handicap ramp, and installing a new sidewalk section and handicap ramp resulting in a new complete crosswalk. Beginning September 29, 2008, 40 selected West Linn roads will be slurry sealed. The slurry seal process coats the street with an emulsified asphalt and small aggregate mixture to both seal the street from water penetration and to restore the wearing surface. The slurry seal process usually takes approximately four to six hours per street section to complete. The contractor will provide door hangers and street signs in the affected areas. All work should be completed within three weeks, weather permitting. A list of streets can be found on the city website at http://westlinnoregon.gov. Crack seal work was performed prior to the slurry seal process. A presentation will be given at the September 15, 2008 Council Work Session relating to the current Water Master Plan Study.
