WEST LINN - The following process will be used for filling the City Council vacancy. This process was decided upon at the Monday, April 26, 2010 Council meeting:

  • On Wednesday, April 28 at 7:30 at City Hall, the City Council will meet with all 31 applicants; each applicant will have two minutes to present information about themselves.
  • The Council may then discuss appointing an individual to the Mayor position and if necessary, the Council could also decide on a Council appointment.
  • If the Council makes that decision, the Council could proceed with both appointments.
  • The Council may make a decision tomorrow night, or may request additional interview time with a select group of applicants; this second interview would take place on Thursday on 6:30.
  • The newly-appointed official(s) would participate in the May 3, 2010 work session, and would be formally sworn in at the May 10, 2010 Council meeting.

The following people applied for the vacancy on the West Linn City Council created by the resignation of the former mayor.

The City Council reserves the right to appoint someone to either the mayor’s position, or a councilor position if the mayor’s position is filled with a sitting City Councilor.
