Students should color or write a response to the question, "If I were mayor, I would ... " and submit it to the city of West Linn.
All entrants will be honored by the city council at a special meeting and the winning entry will be entered into an Oregon Mayors Association statewide contest to win an Apple iPad Air tablet.
All entries are due to West Linn City Hall, 22500 Salamo Road, by April 2, 2015.
The poster contest is open to students enrolled in grades four and five or being home-schooled at the same grade level for the 2014-15 school year. Poster size must be a minimum of 17 inches and a maximum of 28 inches in height or width. Students are encouraged to use any art medium. The poster may be in color or black and white. The student's name and an email address for a parent or guardian must appear on the back of the poster.
The essay contest is open to students enrolled in grades 6, 7, and 8 or being home-schooled at the same grade level for the 2014-15 school year. Essays must be 500 to 1,000 words in length and typed. The student’s name and a daytime phone number or email must appear on the essay.
Entries must be turned in with an entry form, which can be found at city hall and on this Web page.
