Civic background
In 1992, Cary and I moved our family to West Linn, sold on the stunning natural beauty, low crime rates and the great reputation of West Linn-Wilsonville's schools.

Soon we discovered a friendly network of neighbors with a delightful community spirit and in 1993 joined the Imagine West Linn Visioning project; an exciting endeavor to identify West Linn's character and sense of place in hopes of shaping the future.

Serving as the land-use representative for our neighborhood, I was asked to join the 1998 Tomorrow Task Force committee appointed to rewrite the Comprehensive Plan. While studying our Natural Resource maps, I was shocked to discover the number of streambeds paved over as if nonexistent. Noticing only one stream with a name, Tanner Creek; I began requesting that we name and map our streams to increase their significance. Three years later, 14 streams with names recommended by citizens became officially mapped by the State of Oregon.

2001-2004-Appointed to West Linn Planning Commission, (2003-Chair) Land- use decisions and updated Comprehensive Plan and Community Development Codes
2004 - Elected to a two year term on City Council but stepped down in 2006 due to complications caused by surgery.
2007-2008 - Co-chair of the League of West Linn Neighborhoods- hosted workshop on Oregon's Goal One-Citizen Participation.
2008-2012 - Elected to a four year term on City Council.
2009-2010 - Appointed to Clackamas Policy and Advisory Committee and also Clackamas Small Cities Alternate Rep during Metro Urban /Rural Reserves process, strongly advocating West Linn's position to preserve the rural character of the Stafford basin in Metro Urban Growth Boundary decisions.

I strive to preserve and protect the health, safety and livability of our city through open, responsive, accountable city government and I am especially grateful for citizens who care enough to seek information, give input and step forward to help build a thriving, sustainable community.
