Policy Questions for Council Consideration:
One of the Council’s priorities for 2009 was to proceed with the plans to build a new police facility. During discussions with some stakeholders, the concept of including courts to this project was added. At the Council’s direction work has continued in identifying land and beginning the preliminary pre-bond work. The pre-bond work included an RFP for an architectural and engineering firm to provide proposals in a two phase process. The first phase included pre-design services, programming, concept design, estimating and Bond Education material. The 2nd phase includes design, construction documentation, bidding and construction administration services for this new facility.
With the guidance of the City’s Attorney’s office, an RFP was developed and publicized in accordance to the City’s contracting rules. Following those rules the prevailing firm was Group Mackenzie. The cost of the phase one work is $39,530 (+ or – incidental reimbursable expenses).
Award contract to Group Mackenzie so Bond Measure can be placed on May 2010 Ballot
