Planning Manager

$5957 - $8136/mo DOQ.  This is a full-time (40 hrs/wk), non-represented benefited position.

 

The City of West Linn, located 8 miles South of Portland at the confluence of the Willamette and Tualatin Rivers, has grown to a community of 25,250 while maintaining its scenic beauty.  West Linn has the distinct reputation as one of Oregon’s most livable communities with excellent schools and municipal services.  The community has three commercial service centers and a historic district preserving its historic homes and businesses.

 

The City is seeking an exceptional Planning Manager.  As part of the management team,

the position will serve under the general direction of the Community Development Director and is responsible for the management of the planning department and direct supervision of staff. The Planning Manager will manage, coordinate and direct the City’s major planning efforts, including current and long-range planning projects; supervise professional and technical departmental staff, integrate and administer the department’s operations and improve service delivery; and perform related work as assigned.  This position will be responsible for the investigation, development and implementation of assigned planning and management projects in accordance with the direction of Community Development Director.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a four (4) year college or university with major course work in urban planning, public administration, geography or a closely related field is required along with at least six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in land use/planning/community development, including significant project management and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.    An advanced degree in planning is highly desirable as is planning experience in the Portland Metro region.

 

 

The salary range is commensurate with experience, up to $97,634/annually, including 3% contribution to deferred compensation.  Management benefit package provided.  Qualified candidate must pass pre-employment background check, reference check and drug screen.
