City of West Linn Seeks New Finance Director

Outgoing Director Andy Parks Heralded as a “Change Agent” WEST LINN – The City of West Linn will begin recruitment for a new finance director to replace contract finance director Andy Parks. With the conversion to a new financial software system underway, the restoration of the City’s bond rating, the completion of past audits, and implemented enhancements to the budget process and internal controls, Mr. Park’s tenure as finance director is amicably ending so the City can pursue a full-time, permanent employee. Mr. Parks will continue to work as a consultant on special projects with the City. “Our Finance Department has gone through significant changes over the past few years as we’ve fixed past problems and modernized operations,” said City Manager Chris Jordan. “To accomplish this, I needed a Finance Director who could act as a ‘change agent;’ Andy Parks has done an outstanding job in this role,” said Jordan. The City will begin advertising the Finance Director recruitment on Sunday, July 20. An August 15 deadline for applications is anticipated, with interviews of top candidates slated for the week of September 1. The City aims to have a new Finance Director begin work the week of October 1. Mr. Parks has been with the City since 2005, when he was hired as a financial consultant to assist with audits and budgeting after the resignation of Elma Magkamit. In August 2006 he was appointed finance director on a contract basis, and oversaw City financial operations following the discovery of Ms. Magkamit’s $1.4 million embezzlement, and the subsequent transformation of the finance department. ###
