Stolen car crashes gates at High School - two arrested - driver at large

Posted: June 2nd, 2007 5:15 PM On Saturday June 2, 2007 at 11:50 a.m., the Lake Oswego Police Department received a call of a reckless driver on Highway 43 near McVey. The car was traveling south toward West Linn. Dispatchers checked the license given by the complainant and it showed the Subaru WRX was stolen. At 11:52 a.m., WLPD Officer Dave Heimbuck saw the vehicle as it approached McKillican Street on Willamette Drive in West Linn. He turned to follow the car, and it darted up McKillican Street. At the intersection of West A Street and McKillican Street, the car continued straight and crashed through the iron gates on the driveway of the West Linn High School. The vehicle traveled around the building and crashed through a second iron gate onto Skyline Drive. Officer Heimbuck was following the car. The suspects then made their way to the Old Oregon City-West Linn Bridge and into Oregon City. The vehicle, an all wheel drive sports sedan, eluded the officers. Officers from Oregon City and Canby Police Departments assisted in the search for the car/suspects. The vehicle was found at 816 3rd Street in Oregon City. The suspect vehicle glanced off a car at this address when it came to a stop. Jose G. VALLEJO, born in 1997, of Hillsboro was arrested nearby, as was Andrea M. SMITH, born in 1984 of St. Helens. Both were lodged at the Clackamas County Jail for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (UUV) in lieu of $15,000 bail. The vehicle was stolen from St. Helens on May 30, 2007. The driver is still at large.
