WEST LINN - On October 24, 2009 West Linn Police responded to the 23500 block of Skyline Drive regarding a "possible shots fired" call. A resident, Mr. Rick Boes, reported during the night it appeared a bullet had entered the wall of his apartment.
Upon the arrival of the officers it was determined a bullet had been fired into the apartment from 22532 Skyview Drive. The residents, Darla Kay Curtis (49), and Abraham Killings (57), were contacted and it was determined during the prior evening they had an argument. During the course of this argument, Ms. Curtis took a hunting rifle (.270 caliber) out of the closet and Mr. Killings took it away from her. During this exchange the rifle went off. The bullet traveled through the headboard of their bed, the common wall separating their apartment from the complainants, Mr. Boes, through a dinning room table, eventually coming to rest in the fire place.
Ms. Curtis and Mr. Killings were each cited into West Linn Municipal Court for two counts of Reckless Endangering, a Class A Misdemeanor. Alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor in this case. Luckily, no one was injured during this event.
"Alcohol and firearms are never a good mix", said West Linn Police Chief Terry Timeus, "The Boes family is very lucky not to have been injured in this reckless act."
